Dispersal Order in Place Across the Coast – Please Report Concerns |
||
|
Dear Resident,
I wanted to provide an update regarding policing activity along the Canterbury district coastline this weekend. Kent Police has authorised a dispersal order covering parts of Whitstable, Tankerton and Herne Bay from 1600hrs on Friday 17 July 2026 until 1600hrs on Sunday 19 July 2026 following reports of a potential large gathering on the coast involving young people. Information received suggests that a beach party may be being promoted on social media, with concerns around underage drinking and anti-social behaviour. The dispersal order enables officers to direct individuals who are causing, or are likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to leave the area. Anyone directed to leave and who then returns may be liable to arrest. You can expect to see increased patrols from Community Safety Unit officers, local policing teams and partner agencies throughout the weekend. Officers will be engaging with young people, providing reassurance to residents and taking action where necessary to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.
How you can help If you witness anti-social behaviour, disorder, underage drinking, criminal damage or have information regarding gatherings that may cause concern, please report it to us: Continue to share information and concerns through My Community Voice.
Timely reporting helps us deploy resources to the right locations and take action at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your continued support and assistance in helping to keep our coastal communities safe throughout the summer. Kind regards,
Daniel Fordom | ||
